“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.” Hebrews 13:7

Today was a sacred reminder that legacy is not built in moments; it is built over a lifetime of faithfulness.

I had the privilege of standing in two spaces of dedication. One honored a name that will now be spoken for generations through the Chet Foraker Award. The other dedicated a place where countless prayers will rise to heaven, a chapel named in honor of Dr. and Mrs. McCall. Though in different forms, both shared a common thread: lives poured out for others.

Coach Foraker’s legacy is not measured by wins or statistics, but in people. His life reminds us that true greatness is found in shaping hearts, mentoring young life, and investing in something far bigger than ourselves. His influence continues, not because of what he achieved, but because of who he became and how he loved. Coach Foraker has been a faithful supporter of MVNU for over five decades and has sacrificially given of his time, talent, and treasure.

Likewise, the McCalls’ sacrifice has been woven into the fabric of MVNU since the very beginning. What was once an ordinary icehouse has now become sacred ground, as a 24-hour prayer chapel where hearts and minds are drawn back to the One is unchanging. It stands as a testimony that when a life is surrendered to Christ, even the ordinary becomes holy.

Legacy is not about being remembered; it is about remembering others. It is about living in a way that enables people to encounter Christ through us. It is about caring deeply, serving faithfully, and loving consistently. It is about leaving something eternal behind in the lives of those God places on our path.

The prayer spoken at the dedication by Dr. Rev. Randall Davey lingers in my heart:

“Be gentle with yourself and with one another, for you are the dwelling place of the Most High God.”

What a powerful truth. If Christ dwells within us, then how we treat others matters deeply. Every interaction, every word, every act of service becomes an opportunity

So today, we are reminded:

o   To remember those who have gone before us

o   To honor the sacrifices that made our present possible

o   To care for one another with intentional grace

o   To build a legacy that points beyond ourselves

Because in the end, the only legacy that truly lasts is the one rooted in Jesus Christ.

May we live in such a way that when our time comes, it can be said that we loved well, served faithfully, and left a path that leads others to Him.

Blessings,

Carson
